Generational friends

Ken's grandma and my grandma were friends, our parents are friends and now I can say Ken and I are friends. Around 1965, our parents put Ken and I on a plane from Dulles to LAX to visit our grandmas in CA. Ken's grandma was the best, she put a piece of chocolate on your pillow before bed. Ken and I live different lives, Ken is a scientist and lives in Alaska and I'm a designer in California. Enjoy talking with you Ken, friends forever.

Historic certificate

My sister Margaret wrote of her marriage-- "Four years ago when Carol and I got married in San Francisco the campus news did a story that we were mentioned in. Well four years later with the changes in marriage laws they did a follow up on some of the couples. We did not have a back yard ceremony though....Oh well it is a good photo. Read the article at this link-- http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2008/06/23_wed.shtml"

Yikes, I think I am the Christian Fundamentalist mentioned in the article, I may lose my church membership. :)

Joyous announcement

I would like to share this joyous announcement with you-Melinda graduated from high school (VACE) on Friday, June 13. So many of you have prayed, cried, laughed with us as we have lived through the last 5 years. Our family and friends have inspired and sustained us and are an important part of her success. A special thank you to Rachael, her sister that put aside her career to live with us for a season. May you be blessed for your selflessness. Thanks to each and every one of you.

In the fall Melinda will be attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. She will pursue a career in fashion design.

Inventive fresh florals

My daughter wrote this to me and I agree; "I found this store in LA when I was shopping for work. They have the coolest floral arrangements I had ever seen. Check it out! It might inspire you to collect drift wood from the beach." I'm heading for the beach. See for yourself at -- http://www.krislyndesign.com/index.html

Trend setter

Designing accessories is a very competitive profession and for one of your designs to be photographed as an example of a trend by WGSN is a compliment. My daughter found one of her hat designs on their website that was taken at the Coachella Music Festival. To see more of her work visit this url http://www.billabong.com/us/

Dressing up

My daughter always loved to dress up. She had a large white suit case with big girl dresses, shoes, jewelry that she played with for countless hours. When she went to the Billabong Design for Humanity party this is the dress she wore. Nice. Here is Billabong's url for the event http://www.billabong.com/designforhumanity/es/index.html.
